Understanding the global framework for sustainable development
The United Nations was established in 1945 after the Second World War with the primary purpose of maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, and promoting social progress, better living standards, and human rights.
Today, the UN works to promote peace, international cooperation, and sustainable development around the world. It serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration between nations to address global challenges.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
The SDGs address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. They are designed to be achieved by 2030 and require urgent action by all countries and all stakeholders.

The SDGs address the most pressing challenges facing our world today, from climate change to inequality.
All countries, regardless of their level of development, are working towards these common objectives.
The goals require collaboration between governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals.
With only a few years left until 2030, immediate action is needed to achieve these goals.
Educate yourself about the SDGs and understand how they relate to your community and daily life.
Take action in your own life and community to support the goals, no matter how small the action may seem.
Spread awareness about the SDGs and inspire others to take action in their own communities.
